Pinnawala Elephants Orphanage

Pinnawala located in scenic and moderate climatic environment at a river bank of one side and basically large ground of coconut plantation over 10ha landscape. The orphanage stared in mid 70s to conserve wild elephants and it’s now one of major tourism attractions in Sri Lanka especially due to Baby Elephants and River Bath of the Elephants also there are many opportunities for Volunteering Studies and Researchers.

One tree with a significant history is the Cannonball Tree that the tree is often laden with fruit, which are thought to resemble cannonballs.
